At Eskdale we pride ourselves on listening and responding to the people we serve. Schools are no longer islands within the community, but an important part of the community. Experience has taught us that effective education takes place where there are no barriers, no mysteries and no secrets between home and school.
We learn by listening, watching and doing; we learn in large assembly groups, class groups, small groups, friendship groups, ability groups and individually. We learn facts, gain knowledge of subjects, generate ideas, express opinions and develop our understanding of the world in which we live.
Most importantly, however, the processes through which we learn at school colour and shape us as people. We learn how to tolerate others, how to cope with our own disappointments and successes by being given the opportunity to experience all of these at school.
